Acer saccharinum
Tree Description:
Silver maples are native to the Chicago Region and eastern North America and are often found growing in open sunlight along creeks and waterways. The silver maple gets its common name from the silvery underside of its leaves. Silver maples are tall and fast growing with mature trees growing over 70 feet tall. Silver maple trees require frequent pruning as high winds and ice can cause their limbs to break.
