Douglas firs are native to Western North America and Eastern Asia. Douglas firs can reach heights of over 295 feet and can have a diameter greater than 13 feet. Additionally, Douglas firs have very strong wood that is often used in construction, boats, and aircrafts. Smaller ornamental Douglas firs are commonly used as Christmas trees in North America. The needles on Douglas firs are long, flat, and grow directly from the branch surrounding it in a spiral.
