Tree Description:

The Austrian pine is native to Europe and was introduced to the United States in 1759.  Over 217 million Austrian pines were planted during the great dust bowl shelterbelt project as they are known to do well in dry and sandy conditions. Austrian pine is not recommended for planting in the Midwest as they are susceptible to several disease and insect problems.
